Kendrick Lamar to Perform at Grammys

Original Story The good kid is going to the Grammys. Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the first performer for the awards show.

The Compton rapper will take the stage at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, airing live on CBS on Sunday, January 26, at 8 p.m. EST.

“Jan. 26, 8pm. I’m performing @TheGRAMMYs on @CBSTweet #GRAMMYs,” tweeted Kendrick.

He is nominated in seven categories including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Album of the Year for his breakthrough debut good kid, m.A.A.d city.

Only two hip-hop acts, OutKast and Lauryn Hill, have won in the Album of the Year category. “That’s crazy that it’s even nominated [for Album of the Year]. That album is a really raw album; it’s not too much crossover,” he told Power 106. “So for them to even put it in that light, that’s a win by itself. If I take it home, that’s even more of a crazy feeling.”

Kendrick is currently winding down on the “Yeezus Tour” with Kanye West, which wraps December 23 in Toronto.
