DJ Drama Named A&R At Atlantic Records
Original Story There's levels to DJ Drama's success: from T.I.'s spinning man, to producing music, to hosting a satellite radio show on Shade 45 and now, label personnel.
Billboard reports that Dram has joined the A&R staff at Atlantic Records. He will be responsible for overseeing projects, artist development for current artists, and bringing in new talent. Bonus for label signees: using DJ Drama's brand new Mean Streets Studios in Atlanta.
"My first two albums as an artist were on Atlantic," the Philadelphia native said in a statement. "And I'm now looking forward to working with Craig and Julie [Atlantic Chairman/COO] in a new capacity, helping them break the label’s next crop of amazing talent."
Atlantic CEO/Chairman Craig Kallman also expressed his enthusiasm about the new partnership with the mix tape maven.
"One of the most accomplished DJs and mixtape masters, DJ Drama brings brilliant instincts and consummate skills to our A&R team," he said. "A hugely influential force in the hip-hop community, I know he'll be a tremendous asset in signing and developing artists and making amazing records."
DJ Drama is currently prepping his fifth album, Quality Street Music 2.
