Pill Talks New Mixtape The Diagnosis, Explains Maybach Music Group Deal

Original Story Yesterday AllHipHop.com caught up with Atlanta bred and Maybach Music signed artist Pill, about his most recent mixtape that hit the net called, The Diagnosis.

Hosted by DJ Scream, the MMG signee broke down a few tracks on the project and talked to AllHipHop.com about his career's progression over the the last few years.

"Its just basically me doing my same type of music with just a bigger look and a bigger stamp," Pill told AllHipHop.com assuring his fans that his music will remain consistent.  "Being that Ross got me over at Maybach Music, it's an all around good look and he just wants you to do you.  Make sure you put out your music and he can give any type of input that he may feel that you may need, and he don't stop me from trying to do the type of music that I want to put out.  I just continue to put out the type of music that I want to put out and that got me signed."

One of the songs that has already proven to be a fan favorite is the track "Scotty Pippen, Tim Duncan", where Pill makes numerous references to getting numbers.

While Pill realizes that other people have made references to both ballers, he thinks this is a new spin on the concept.

"I think I'm going to be shooting a video for the 'Scotty Pippen and Tim Duncan' ," Pill told AllHipHop.com.  "It just was basically trying to come up with some slang, as a reference to the trap like doing numbers or being numbers. Something besides going ham,  because it seems as if everyone been going ham.... really hard, I was like ' well let me come out with something else right now'.  So hopefully that will catch on just as much as the other one did too, but this time I will be credited."

Pill also took the time to explain a song that features Trae the Truth, which brings fans down to earth and talks about the real life struggles of the world that are taking place in today's economy.

"Trae the homie man, he actually performed with me at SXSW and we basically linked up to do some work together and when I linked back from the A, we put everything back together and it came out dope and its a record about the struggle and about people that may need help and that are going through it and about people that may need help and people that need the Lord to send one down," Pill said of the track with the Texas heavy hitter.  "Its almost like me questioning the Lord and the government at the same time and I know Trae speaks on those types of subjects as well so I thought he would be the perfect collaborator for that and that's the homie as well, plus he speaks that clarity and that realness so I needed him for that."

As for the production on his new proejct, Pill enlisted the talents of several unknown producers by taking to Twitter looking for beats.

"I wanted to check out some new producers, every time I would go to the studio, I took to Twitter and asked people to send me joints and I got a lot of joints that people hadn't heard of and I got to Twitter and they sent me some beats," Pilll explained.  "I just tried to get some other producers out there."

Having dropped this fourth mixtape with medicinal theme as a title,  Pill is looking to drop and EP and then follow up with and album for the fans continuing to keep the theme that got him signed and the sonically connects with his name.

"I probably will drop the EP and then the album. I just want to stay consistent, I'll stick with the medicinal titles and I think The Epidemic should be next," I got my name playing football and in junior varsity I ran a few touchdowns back and you know in football they call the ball 'the pill', so I just started getting called that name and it stuck, N****s were like he is the pill. I'm just Pill, the cure for cancer, I'm the medicine"

Pill can be found on the Maybach Music Self Made Volume 1 album, a project available on iTunes and at most major Hip-Hop music retailers.
