Photographer Suing Kendrick Lamar For ''The Blacker The Berry'' Cover Art

Kendrick Lamar has been hit with a federal lawsuit for using Italian photographer Giordano Cipriani's photograph to promote "Blacker The Berry," a cut featured on his second studio album, To Pimp A Butterfly.

According to court documents the photographer filed in New York July 10 acquired by Bossip, Cipriani is suing Kendrick Lamar, Top Dawg Entertainment, Interscope Records and Aftermath Records for $150,000 each time the photograph has been used, as well as for lawyer fees.

Cipriani is also requesting an injunction against K.Dot to stop him from using the artwork, as well as damages for the unauthorized use of his photo.

Cipriani has had his art featured in numerous publications and earns his living by licensing the rights to his work. Neither Kendrick nor his record label asked for permission to use or license, Cipriani says.

The "Blacker The Berry" cover art; the original photograph taken by Cipriani in 2011, which depicts a mother in Africa breastfeeding two babies is above and the court document is below.
