Original Story It seemed like only a matter of time before DMX faced yet another legal issue.
According to TMZ, X is being sued by a booking agency called Heavy Rotation, which filed the lawsuit in New York claiming it struck an exclusive year-long deal with DMX in 2011 to book the rapper’s concerts worldwide. But because of The Dog’s legal problems, including a traffic violation in August and a couple of child support disputes, there was a lien on the rapper’s passport, preventing him from performing overseas. Now, the company is asking for $749,285 in damages.
According to the suit, HR went as far as dropping nearly a hundred grand to cover DMX’s bail, child support and a bunch of other legal bills, hoping the lien on his passport would be lifted and he could go on tour. But the efforts were in vain as DMX continued to have and create distractions, like hiring outside management that attempted to book his shows in the United States, a clear violation of X’s agreement with HR. X also couldn’t resolve his passport drama and all international concerts had to be canceled.
Meanwhile, DMX’s manager says a very different story. He says DMX severed all ties with Heavy Rotation because the company put the rapper at risk with some unsavory business practices.
